Praying for the Queen's health
« on: September 08, 2022, 13:09 »
We have heard over here that the Queen's doctors are concerned for her health. I'm praying for her health to improve, and thinking of her family.

Thanks, SP, I think we all are.  She’s been an exemplary monarch, and may she continue a while longer.

She’ll be a very hard act to follow.

Can't help thinking she'll be an impossible act to follow.

She has gone - but she won't be forgotten.
May she rest in peace, now..

This is the news I expected but didn't want.  RIP Your Majesty.  My thoughts and  prayers are with your family, may they find peace.

I'm sad for her passing, but glad for her legacy.  What an exemplary world leader she has been.

Today has been a day we knew must come but hoped wouldn't. She worked for the country right up to end. I expect many feel as I do, a sense of personal loss. A constant that his been there for all our lives, gone.
It's going to be very strange and sad for a while.

Her death represents the loss of an institution so quintessential British.

I feel I knew her, though of course I didn’t.  She has always been there for my lifetime, so it is very odd to feel she has gone now.

She worked for the country right up to end.

I think she would have got quite a kick out of that as well.  Devotion to duty and her ‘job’ was her overriding motivation.

As others have said, it's the day we increasingly knew was inevitable sooner rather than later, but a shock nevertheless now the reality is sinking in.

Events like this can also trigger reminders of personal loss or grief. Be kind to yourself and others, stay close to those you love, take the time you need, do what you feel is best to navigate emotions - whether that's switching off the TV or social media, or reading a book. Everyone will react differently.

Yes, the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers (who knew there was such a body?!) has encouraged all cburches that are able, to ring their bells for an hour from 12 noon.

Just back from my camera club meeting.
We had a one minute silence in her honour.
It feels very odd saying God Save the King.
Keep digging

Yes, the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers (who knew there was such a body?!) has encouraged all cburches that are able, to ring their bells for an hour from 12 noon.

When Princess Diana died, there was an hour of half-muffled rounds in the church during the evening, and it was absolutely beautiful as well as very haunting!

I stopped ringing quite a few years ago, (never at home on Saturdays or Friday Evenings) and even tried again a few years ago but couldn't get back into the work needed! I never rang a half-muffled bell, but understand that it is quite difficult as the balance changes every turn!

I think we might have a full-muffled change at Westminster Abbey and that really will be something to listen to and ponder, especially if they try a 'Royal', which would go on for ages, but 96 years is also a long time, and doesn't she deserve it!

Sad days.
