Clockwise.  I've just pretended to make one so I could test the theory.

Same as.

However, an old allotment mate of mine told me something today, regarding tea and coffee. Save all coffee beans/drips/waste for your compost heap, and the same with tea and teabags, especially for pure horse manure, i.e. without straw in the mix. And yes, this isn't news to any of you probably. But apparently, worms LOVE caffeine, which makes them multiply and really get down and boogie to eating your compost, making it all nice and crumbly within a year or so. I have seen the results - stunning!

I may be Welsh, but I love ewe anyway!

I'm awkward and stir anti=clockwise...............probably because I'm left-handed. I can't see that it makes any difference, though without trying I'll never know for certain!

Daft answer:
A. I've no idea which way I stir,

Roman numeral II: Fortunately, it doesn't.

Anti-clockwise, but as we don't do sugar, it's only to settle the milk...

Actually, we just use the tea-bag tongs for a couple of 'swishes'!

Depends on how annoyed I am.

Grumpy : Clockwise.
Mild annoyance : Clockwise with the occasional anticlockwise to reduce the swirl
irate : Clockwise like beating an egg for an omelette, with the use of the spoon vertically like a canoe paddle to stop spillage.

I'd suggest not calling, emailing or knocking my door if you hear a spoon on china

For tea, always made in a teapot, would never stir as no sugar and the milk goes in first so need to stir.

For espresso coffee that I use my own filled pod containers in the dolce gusto there would be no need to stir.
But for a cappuccino, I use a separate milk frother, add that to the cup first and then use my own filled pod containers in the dolce gusto for a shot of espresso coffee to it and do use a teaspoon to make a squishy pattern, so go any way I like. Also the spoon comes in handy at the end to finish of the last of the frothy milk.

Don't do sugar or milk in either, so sometimes a pot, other times just dunk it until it looks a good colour.  Mrs B

I can think of no physical reason why it would make any difference apart from a placebo effect from those who insist it must do. Stirring generates turbulent mixing and turbulence is random chaotic motion.

Given the way we reach for the kettle to solve all ills in this country, I reckon the way you make your drink is a ritual for a lot of folk that offers calm and reassurance against things actually way beyond its power to rectify

I stir clockwise and I have no idea why, but I do because I can  ;)

I'm right handed so asked my friend today who is left handed which way they stir.  Anti-clockwise was the answer so this may also have an effect on which way.

Spent today observing....

When I make my cup of Chai I stir anti clockwise.

I also observed I dont drink coffee and only drink tea at work!
