Potato storage problem
« on: December 06, 2020, 17:06 »
It’s been a difficult year for potatoes !

Our main crop potato - Picasso has developed a nasty storage problem that we’ve never had before.

The picture is are very badly affected tubers.   Any ideas ?

Thanks Mum, I’ll have a look at that.

The flesh under the skin is just a shallow amount of discolouration.  Peel thickly and it’s usable.

Yes,that could be it.

we had something like that after we lifted the crop but after asking about this on our site it was suggested it could be blight we lost a a few but not that many and since sorting and storing it looks like the potatoes are  storing well

I must admit i didn't know about gangrene effecting potatoes that's good info to remember if we get the same problem in the future
