Never tried it, but rhubarb leaves do carry a toxin so I'm sure it would work.

Full of oxalic acid they are, so very bad for people, you let us know about white flies please. :)

Think I have heard something similar, it's worth a try.  At least it's organic.  Not that I am though.

Okay then, I'll give it a go. Won't be eating much rhubarb tho this year, apparently dried leaves or even an inch of stalk with the brassicas when you plant them prevents club root. With the Whitefly and clubroot we had last year Rhubarb becomes the No1 bug beater :D

I've heard of using an evil smelling brew of rhubarb leaves (left to rot in water until it stinks) to water brassicas directly on the leaves and it deters the cabbage butterfly because it cannot "smell" the brassica scent.

As for preventing club root (foot?   I love it), I have my doubts.  Club root is a slime mould and its activity is affected by pH - it prefers acidic conditions, hence using lime to raise the pH doesn't kill it but does slow it down - you can still get club root on brassicas but hopefully the plants have matured before it starts to have an effect.  I can only think putting the rhubarb stalk/leaf when planting provides some compost?  Oxalic acid is as its name suggests, acidic   so it goes against the pH theory.  Perhaps it is toxic to the slime mould?  That would be worthy of some research into one of the worst main plant diseases
