Runner Beans seeds
« on: January 27, 2020, 08:56 »
Same as last  year I checked my stored seeds only to find the tub has had an outbreak of weevils.

They are stored indoors with all my other seeds but seems something must be laying eggs in them even though there is no sign of damage.

Any suggestions to prevent this?

thx

Bean weevils can be a right pain. Once the harvested beans are fully dry, put the seeds in the freezer for a week, it kills the eggs and any live weevils, they will still germinate.
If you only find the weevils near planting time, give them a few days to acclimatize when you take them out of the freezer before sowing them.
