Just a warning to keep an eye on those beautiful fat lily stems coming up now, as well as Fritillaries (mine are still in flower) as this morning I sped three Lily Beetles on the leaves on some lilies at the warmest end of the garden.
These lay eggs on the leaves and their larvae, which have the delightful habit of covering themselves in their own poo as camouflage (and so look like a small pile of black poo... what else?) wreak havoc with leaves and beds and can completely kill plants
Pick them off al squish them, carefully though as the beetles fall to the ground at the slightest vibration, and also let out supersonic warning squeaks to each other, so they fall off too.
