first spuds
« on: May 07, 2018, 22:17 »
We really fancied some new potatoes today with our main meal but refused to pay the silly price for Jersey Royals no bigger than a pigeon's egg. I thought it was a bit early but nevertheless I tipped out one of the tubs in the greenhouse and lo and behold....344g of lovely Sharpe's Express. Given another week or two they are going to bulk up nicely and considering they didn't go in till a fortnight later than usual that yield is pretty good.

Well done. I planted some earlies in a greenhouse in late February (a week before the cold snap), they have flower buds now so will have a fumble in the soil in the next week or two.
