Hey! I just received my order from J Parker yesterday - I ordered the bargain Dahlias and got the free Echinacea too

I got quite a few bare-rooted perennials – although not as many as you Babe! The instructions made me panic a bit as they were very insistent about getting the plants in the ground as soon as possible. So, at first light this morning, I was out in my garden planting them in a couple of bare patches of ground - rather than leave them in their packaging for a minute longer.

However now, having given it some more thought, I'm wondering if I shouldn't have put them in pots and grown them on a bit in a sheltered part of the garden. The positions I've put them in aren't their permanent ones (I'm planning on some of them going up to the plot). I'm worried that the very cold weather and frosts forecast for the end of this week are going to kill them - if my cat doesn't dig them up first!

What do you think folks? Should I set my alarm early again tomorrow and transfer them to pots or leave them be?  :?:

Less frost in the soil than in a pot.  Leave them be :D
