Hello to all you gardeners out this is the coppermill lad and I have a question for you.
I have grown giant pumpkins for a few years now , got reasonable results but always had this worry that
the underneath of pumpkin will go soft due to water being trapped, iv'e thought of putting an umberella over it to keep rain off but settled for plastic sheet to cover it now question is what can happen now, will there be humidity trapped under the sheet to cause me problems , anybody got any answers to the question, look foreward to hearing from you.

I haven't had a problem so long as I put a tile (paving stone if that big!).  My concern in covering them would be that they wouldn't get enough sun to ripen them.

I agree. We make sure the fruit is exposed by trimming back leaves when necessary, and sit it on a paving slab when about the size of a melon
