Can I still harvest my rhubarb?

I'm taking a last harvest this weekend, assuming it hasn't already gone stringy 

Then that's it till next Spring.

edit: I should add that mine is an early variety, so I've been picking since February. If yours is a later variety you can probably carry on picking for longer

I shall be taking my last cut this weekend also,then I will leave it till next year only planted it last year we have had 3kg off 1 plant,for me its done very well,just needs plenty of muck and water.
We can have a few very nice crunbles yummy.

Will pick my earliy-ish rhubarb until it goes stringy, maybe by mid July. I then have some Poulton's Pride rhubarb which you can pick right up to October

I will keep harvesting mine as long as there is newer young stems. this rain will have helped freshen them.
l don't ever harvest very hard as I have several plants and they definately need stems to feed themselves.

I feel a bit dim asking this  , but is stringiness a real problem?  I have 4 plants doing very well, but don't eat rhubarb, so usually give it to friends/neighbours.  As a non-eater, how can I tell if it's too stringy?

I came across stringiness for the first time this year. I pulled a stick which was old and I could feel it was stringy when I was preparing it. I cooked it anyway but it was not very nice.
Young stems are OK, old ones lying flat with yellowing leaves are not.

Thank you Azubah!  I shall do a 'string test' and see if I can tell.  Worst case scenario is that I can use it to make some rhubarb gin for 'festival' presents.
