Please does anyone have any recommendations for strawberries? I've only grown Cambridge Favourite previously - very tasty and prolific they are, too, but I just fancy trying something different!

I've never had that happen.  I thought that was due to over watering and feeding  - like some of the shop bought hydroponic grown offerings.

Mine are in decent soil in raised beds at home and get some chicken manure pellets chucked at them periodically.  I never water them,  just leave them to it, pick and enjoy

I've always found that regardless of the variety you always get some that taste amazing and others that taste of nothing!

That said, I also grow Marshmello along with a perpetual variety called Buddy. You tend to get less of a glut with perpetual varieties and a longer season, which has it's benefits, but it's nice to grow some non everbearing ones to get the volume in the summer.

Mmmmm!  Thanks, folks - been doing a little research and Marshmello do sound like a good bet! It'd be good to try a perpetual variety too, though, as I invariably end up with a glut and as I'm not keen on jam or frozen strawbs there's always a bit of a waste. I'm moving to a new site and while I've dozens of plants on the old site it's a good chance to start anew. I'll pot up some Cambridge Favourite runners to take with me. Any recommendations for a good everbearer?

I really love the "wild" flavour of Maras de Bois and Flamenco is a heavy cropper with a good flavour.
