Too early to buy seeds?
« on: November 22, 2016, 17:44 »
Hi folks, as I'm stuck indoors due to the grim weather and am ordering some stuff online for you-know-what presents was wondering about ordering some seeds that can be included as add-on items, i.e. no,postage to pay.  Can't tell from the pics when they were packed so are they likely to be older seeds and not this year's?
Cheers!

I've already bought some seeds that are this years, but I also have a collection of packets from the 50p sale at Wyevale. Germination wise there's no difference between them - except maybe for those awkward burgers (parsnips)!

As are mine!  And given the size of the packets - probably most of what I will need for 2018 too, all stashed in a (couple of ) biscuit tin(s).   ::)  Except parsnips of course.  I've got next years, but they don't keep - not like brassicas and lettuce and radish etc etc etc.

Buy them now then you can have the fun of buying more in the New Year sales.

Thanks all,
Well went ahead and bought a couple of packets of ones I had on my list (yep not parsnips) so I've made a start.  I find I can never get all the ones I want at any one shop or online so will be be keeping an eye out for the rest as will be out of the country for the whole of Feb and half of March and and will be champing at the bit to get going on return. Plus seed buying is such fun!

Guilty as charged.  Order placed tonight with a major seed
supplier. £32, but will come across tempting offers in the spring. Still got seed spuds to order.

Seed spuds, onion and shallot sets are for the spring.  Let someone else keep them safe till then!

Unless you want to try something different/unusual. Sometimes stock of these runs out quickly, so best to order them asap.
