Comfrey root cuttings

Hi all,  I am just after receiving 8 pieces of Comfrey root, the problem is that they came in a bag of compost and I have no idea which is the top and which is the bottom.  I was told to plant them in pots.  Will it matter which way they are planted?

You know I've never thought about that with comfrey root. With crowns where you have a bit of the top then it's obvious but with the root I've just started in pots without a thought. They seem to work it out!

Don't leave them in the pot too long, plant out as soon as they show because they're very fast growing
