Don't know what to call this hence the header. I found on here that I can grow early spuds to be dug in late June/July and then immediately put my leeks from the greenhouse into the same ground. Is there a name for this and what other veg combinations will lend themselves to this approach ?

I call it double cropping, don't know if that the 'proper' name for it.
As well as the early pots/leek combo, I always have early peas in and follow with Winter cabbage transplanted from modules.
I never dedicate a bed to lettuce, cos these get popped in before or after other crops.

In reality any early to harvest crop can be followed by any another quick harvest crop.

I do the same, chumpy and call the leeks a "follow on" crop. Not sure if there is a proper name, but ne of the best jobs at this time in the year is working out what will follow on where, and when it needs to be sown in modules etc to make sure it is ready at  more or less the right time.

I also "follow on" Autumn planted onions with my outdoor cordon tomatoes as well as the combinations already mentioned. Late dwarf french beans go in after the second early potatoes too. Done this now for a couple of years and it seems to work well.

as well as growing on a second crop, you can also sow a green manure if you don't have anything else to plant - as well as the bed being used, you then dig in the plants later to compost down in the soil. Some overwintering green manure like rye grass also prevents nutrients from leaching out.
