When to release the P.S.B.
« on: August 24, 2015, 18:31 »

I've been watching the cabbage whites slowly reduce in numbers, when do you think it will be safe to release the Purple sprouting Broccoli from the constraints of an enviromesh prison?  The side of which are bowing out under the pressure of the leaves.

We've got all the cabbage whites in the world up here - very late on parade and we are keeping the covers firmly on.

I would keep it covered. If not flutterbyes then the pigeons will get it.

I never uncover mine. There's always something that's trying to eat it.

I managed with just a circle of 3ft high fencing net around. The pigeons seemed to find it difficult to get at the psb from a wobbly perch on the edge of the plastic fence.

Birds will have it overnight. Mine are desperately in need of a bigger net enclosure

Thanks to all and it's nice to know Emma,  I'm not the only one with P.S.B. muscling at the mesh sides and top.

Cheers.  Tony.
