I have sown shallot seeds for the first time in a 4x6 plug tray.There are 3-4 plants in each plug. How does each individual plant behave ?  Do they need to be planted out singly or by plug? All research only says they can be grown from seed but thats it.

Unlike shallots grown from sets, seed grown plants will not divide and multiply, so you only get one shallot per seed.

Planted out as a plug, you will get 3-4 slender bulbs, planted singly you will get a slightly fatter bulb - that's up to you

Hi all
Try planting zebrune shallot seed next year plant one seed per module . I use a forty cell module which sits
in a standard seed tray. You will get one large shallot from each seed , i use them as onions if i want a mild
taste , if you have a green house you can start them off early in the year. Plant out when weather permits you
can grow them quite large before you plant them out.
