Nobody has mentioned the weight of this project. A strawberry plant would need a 6"pot, and that full of soil weighs 5lbs. You would probably need a minimum of 6 for a decent crop, so you are looking at 30 lbs. plus. You have excluded timber and brackets but it has to be child safe & friendly. You will probably need semi circular metal wall baskets fixed to the wall. I have 3 for bush tomatoes and they need sturdy wall fixing bolts. They have a diameter of 18" and would take two strawberry plants.  Every year I empty them out to replenish the soil and they are very heavy. The 3 of them fill a wheelbarrow. This is not a project for shortcuts.
In my previous post, I did mention the weight and said to check the wall is ok to deal with it. As for paint, it should be for painting outdoor wood, so ask a local supplier if they could give you discount.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

As the pallets are free standing against a wall or fence post, they would be self supporting ie the weight will be going down vertically, you would only need decent sized screws to stop them falling over, Dave
Today i will be mainly wearing no trousers

Hi everyone,

So project strawberry wall complete.

Here's a couple of pics for you to look at, let me know what you think.

Height is 4ft and length is 8ft and it holds 17 strawbs and some pretty flowers at the top.

All for a total cost of ...............£36 mostly on the boards for the troughs. 👍😃
its good to get dirty.

Those pictures look great, and the structure looks good and sturdy too! Best of luck with the strawbs! :) :)

The structure is strong enough for me to climb up ( for how long not sure )

Really enjoyed the project and so did the kids, it kicked me into gear for the season ahead.  :D
