Strawberries & potatoes

i would like to plant some Potatoes next to my strawberry bed, it has some willow bordering the strawberries so will be separate from the potatoes. But.... I am sure I read some where that you should not plant them together or next to each other. Is that right and if so then why not please??

They should be ok in the next bed, advice is not to plant strawbs after a spud crop.
I didn't know that and found out the hard way

Why is that? Can I put potatoes after strawberries?

Both strawberries and potatoes can infect the soil with verticillium wilt, a disease which kills strawberries.
