This looks like Black Rot, but the skin is still very hard after a few days curing!

We have a couple more with small patches, but am I right, and will they store, or do we freeze them instead please?

I'm afraid they won't store - last year I had lots of butternut squash but quite a few looked like your photo (and nowhere near as advanced) but none of them stored at all

Mrs Growster has a space problem in the freezers, as I've frozen about three tons of tomatoes, so you can see that freezing squash is a possible reason for world war three...

We have about twenty squash curing nicely, so - thinking rationally - how many do we really need..?

I'll have to take this up with Mrs Growster when the weekend's over!

Anne, I was asking the question, just today " Why don't 'The Big Yellow' have freezer areas, where you can bring your surplus veg and comestibles for a small (large) fee?

Simple really, and all for the cost of eighteen gallons of petrol!

Er, where on earth will you put your fourth freezer then ? - garage - spare bedroom - shed - next door - ..;0)

I'm pretty sure it isn't, Comfr3y, as the pattern is so distinctive on the four we have!

Mrs Growster and I have just cut them up and boiled them down for the freezer, and everything under the skin was just fine, so at least we'll get them later on in the year!
