Critter I.d. Please
« on: September 01, 2014, 18:43 »
Hi all,

My daughter found this critter on my fucshia bush,

I'm not sure what it is, it looks like a caterpillar but is about 3ins long or 75mm!

Thanks in advance!

It's a whopper, I've never seen anything like it!

I have googled it and I saw someone think it was a slow moving snake on their fuschia, I can see why

  A good description. I should have added that they particularly like fuchsia - but I have never been lucky enough to see one.

I had 5 of them munching their way through a fuchsia bush, a few years ago - there wasn't much left of the bush

I relocated them, and saved the fuchsia  :D

MOS - my largest Bush is about six feet x six feet - it would take them a while to munch through that.  :D

I also took this photo too, I noticed it had eaten a few leaves, we have three bushes and I had a look through and only saw one! Next thing I know though there could be an infestation!

The moth itself is equally spectacular - pink and green. Not like your average moth at all!

The dog found one of those on the soil in the back garden next to a box bush last night. I have never seen one before so took a picture, I was going to try and work out how to post the picture but I do not need to do now thanks.
