garden compost
« on: June 30, 2014, 14:42 »
I have got a dustbin 2/3rds full of home-made compost.  Can I use it neat to grow carrots in? Or will it be too strong/weak?

(The last time I used it neat, i.e. unmixed with mpc or a growbag, I grew tomatoes with really lush greenery and only average fruits, so I think it might be quite high in something or other  not sure what  .)

Sounds like it is a bit high in nitrogen, but you can add some potash and phosphates (best for roots) to re-balance it.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
