My first (and second) sowing were munched up totally by something so I'm a bit behind and waiting for sowing number 3 (half grown under cover and half in the open-the latter are now slowly being) to bulk up.

Birds???  Slugs??? Can't really work it out... Any ideas?        Had the same issue last year.

Same here. Grew so many last year but as with lots of other direct sewn seeds, still waiting for them to show! x

I think they are all to blame. I have never had issue with beets till this year.

I always sow in modules then plant out. I generally got good germination but on planting out the leaves all got munched.   :( :( :(

well done, put 13 little plants down. 2wks later put another 50 down, rabbit must have got in somehow and had the whole lot of them, left me the 13 as the leaves would,nt have been as succulent. .enjoy
