Still got potaoes to plant!
« on: May 27, 2014, 20:30 »
I 'm struggling to find any clear land to plant my chitted potatoes in.  I have 2nd earlies and mains left.  I am so disappointed, they are my favourite veg.

Am I too late now?  Which will be more productive to get in, 2nds or mains, because I understand you can store 2nd earlies?  Which would be least worst to plant in - soil with large lumps of stone and rock or grassed area which I won't have time to clear very well.

Least worst would be the stony soil, I think.  Grassland risks wireworm.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I would be looking to get those second earlies into tubs and find some ground for the lates. Always a dilemma what to grow. Sometimes you just have to sacrifice some crops due to lack of space. Lates are cheap to buy in shops and I wouldnt be worrying about them if I was struggling for space.
