I planted some leaks over a month ago (very small leaks bought on the local market here) and although they initially lay down on the job they event started to stand up even though it was quite cold. Then they started to wilt a bit so I earthed them up, put down slug killer, and watered them. There was tonnes of rain all last week and now they have nearly all wilted. Any ideas to get them standing again please? Viagra?

Reading between the lines, it appears you may not have planted them correctly.  Did you drop the leek seedlings into a hole you had made and filled it with water?

Sorry I didn't answer you question earlier as I have been very busy.
Yes, I dropped each seedling into a hole and then watered, as I do every year. They are really very small, hopefully the Friday market here will have some more seedlings tomorrow to plug the gaps.

Some of the first seedlings I planted last year died as well but as it was raining like mad in the midst of all that cold I thought the slugs and the cold were getting at them. It has been cold but not that wet this year!

Thanks for the clarification Anton and I'm sorry to say I have no idea, - I'm stumped. Could the leeks have been out of the seed bed too long?

It does sound as though they may have not been able to grow enough roots ---slug damage maybe?

Frustrating for you
