Spring Onions In Raised Beds.
« on: April 07, 2014, 13:06 »
I had a change around and moved some strawberries out of a raised bed, I have sown spring onions seeds into this raised bed in their place, I could quite easily cover the raised bed with some clear plastic sheeting would doing this help the spring onions along or would it be best to just leave them uncovered?

They require no warmth at all so will be fine.  BUT I would cover them as you will get cats/dogs/birds you name it all wanting to dig up your lovely soil.  I have a cat keeps pooing on any bare soil it finds on my garden so am having to cover everything over with either wire netting or fleece. Some wire  netting should be ok. Whatever you use make sure it's well secured, nothing loose that a bird could get tangled in!
