A racing pigeon has taken to my chickens, It,s been hanging round the run for a week now, staring into the run, theres no access to food for it, It just seems to like being with the chickens.

aw bless! ive had a robbin coming all year round every day for a year or so, getting closer and closer to the conservertory window, ive had loads of blackbirds and more birds in the back garden that ive seen in ages. the robin sounds beautifull when he/she sings which is at least once a day. have wood pigeons that have been round here for years but dont come in my garden. have a look and see if its got a ring on its leg it might belong to someone and might be lost etc x

They're very social birds which is why you usually see them in flocks rather than solitary.
I'd be reluctant to let it directly mingle with your chooks because wild pigeons can carry diseases you don't want spread to your chickens.

You can check out its leg ring and phone the owner, who hopefully will want it back

I have no intention letting the pigeon in with my chickens, but after a week of not encouraging the pigeon, I,m now try to catch it, so i can read the I D ring on it's foot, easier said than done.

I managed to catch the pigeon once just to check whether there was a number stamped under the wing, but there wasn't, now it's a little weary of me, but its still here 3 weeks on, i was told to give it corn, which is a little funny if you could see the reaction from my chickens as i give there corn away
