Adding shredded paper to beds?

I used mine as mulch for under the strawberries too.  It blew about a bit until I wet it and then at the end of the season I scraped off what remained and put it on the compost heap.  The only thing I didn't like was that it is very white and stands out like a sore thumb on the plot.

It's not fantastic seeing garish colours all over a plot, and we try to keep nasty plastic bags etc  to a minimum as well.

Doesn't always work, especially in the case of the debris netting, but a keen eye like yours is very special.
