Morning all.
I have been chasing sleep since 4 and am giving up, and getting up.

This is the third time I have been up this morning and I would kill for a complete nights uninterrupted sleep.
I have three so far this year. :(

So I will go and upset the chickens by letting them out early and go and make a start on the onion marmalades for the winter festival hampers.

I expect I will be falling asleep at 6 this evening.

These days I just do whatever quiet work I can while SWMBO is asleep. Often she finds her clothes washed and pressed and the downstairs rooms tidied.

Rather than fight it, I've come to accept that's just how it is.

Just spent 45 minutes clearing a backlog of emails as I was out on site yesterday 2hour train journey there and two hours back again, next time Skype Video conference and save myself 4 hours but sometimes it good to meet in person. Now breakfast then shower change and lots of work to catch up on...

Too busy for a visit to the allotment  :(

Same here, but then I don't have to go to work any more.

Lucky me too. :D

Though I have never been busier since retirement.
After making 34 jars of assorted jars of onion marmalade in the early hours this morning, it feels as if my new business is taking me and my retirement over.

But, in retirement - if you are doing too much, it can only be your own fault  :D

I seem to have turned into an owl, nowadays  so I must be a member of the late night club

Super stressful morning. Went out to go to the market and found a box by the car. We knew what would be in it before we looked, and sure enough, there were two tiny kittens huddled in the corner, at a guess under two weeks old. The box hadn't been there long and the kittens were asleep so not cold, so we made a snap decision to leave them there as we would be gone only a short time. Our neighbour was watching from her gate and with builders opposite they would be quite safe. Off we went, first stop vet to see if he had baby kitten milk, fat chance. Give them raw cow milk he says, like this one has....little kitten in the shop.

Returning home, neighbour still there, box gone. Phew. Next worry...where? On questioning neighbour it seems someone came and took the box away. Strange how she knows everyone in the village but not who took the box! We have enough with the rescue kitten we already have, and if we ever had to return to the UK we would have trouble enough finding a rental with two dogs as well. And the last thing we need is a name for taking in all waifs and strays that no-one wants or will prevent! Obviously everyone knows we took Splash in when he rolled up at a few weeks old. Consolation is that they cared enough to take them away again instead of leaving them for village dogs, cold or pine marten to take them.

Feeling drained!

Of course you can have the recipe Kevin.  :)
The recipe for my basic onion marmalade is here on the recipe page.
If you go to the recipes and food at the top of this page you will find the onion marmalade top of the list.

It is the basic recipe I use and then I add other stuff for more exotic variations.
PM me  if you would like any extra ideas but this is the most popular variety.

Ikea sell lovely cheap preserving jars, the smallest size 80p which make lovely winter presents. ;)
