Apologies all around I do find this thread very funny.

Sorry, Sadgit, but still you could try the recommended antidotes, I have not tried them, but storing the JAs in the fridge for a few days, before cooking definitely works. They flavour changes though.

Reading the above posts I thought farting would be inevitable after trying artichoke soup for the first time last night.

Yes - It was your recipe, except for home made veg stock in lieu chicken stock and will have it again (many time probably if we keep digging up 6lbs per plant!)

I put a few small (25 - 30mm) tubers to one side, thinking I'd start saving those for re-planting, but they quickly went soft.

What's the best way of saving for planting in the Spring?

So I guess it's best to get them back in now and protect from deep frost, but can't do that as this years crop is still in situ, so will probably keep overwinter in some spent compost in some buried pots.

How about leaving one back, when you pull one up? And you always get volunteers!

There is something in them(name I do not remember) which is indigestible, some people cope better than others, but it is there, so surely you had something in your intake that eases winds and digestion, you might well regularly do, as a vegetarian, who are notorious for fart problems generally. You might want to pass on dietary tips to fellow vegetarians, who suffer from the problem. :wink:

Makes them very suitable food for diabetics I understand.  And I do mean inulin and not insulin.
