W have just had our renewal arrive on the doorstep. It has gone up by £10 a month for our 8 year old Lab.
The insurance is through one of the supermarkets. We haven't phoned them yet to see if they can do us a better deal. As a side issue the monthly payments are almost the same as our house insurance, if that is anything to go by!

Can anybody suggest/recommend and do any companies offer a no claims discount?

sadly they do rise considerably when a dog starts to age and you may struggle to get another company to even consider your Lab is now 8.

Definitely worth shopping around Tenhens.  I've been with Tesco since I got my two pusskins (6 years ago), but this year they wanted to put it up to £48 a month!    They are only 7yrs, although I did have a claim with Millie last year.  I called them up to find £28 of that was for Izzy (her brother, no claims for ages), so I cancelled his (Millies might be ongoing) and am looking for insurance for him now, as I know I can get it for £15-£20 if I change companies....

This is the second year it's gone up by 40%, but last year I was to busy to look around.  I would deffo recommend them for ease of contact and claiming.
