Which Seed Company?
« on: January 23, 2014, 16:15 »
I've sent off for catalogues from 3 or 4 seed companies.
The one I am drawn to is the Real See Catalogue. I like the way they do things.

However, just wondered which company you guys all use any why? Any clear favourites out there?

Just noticed they do not do potatoes or onion sets. Where do you recommend for them?

Cheers!
Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

Regarding the seed companies, that was recently asked here:

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

You asked about Real Seeds which the quoted thread doesn't mention, although they are in lots of others if you search.  I have used them for several years now.   Their seeds have very good germination and tend to be for varieties that may be hard to find elsewhere but are intended for the small gardener and taste good.   The other thing is that they are all open pollinated so you can save seed.   Only drawback is their minimum order of £8.

My other favourites are Tuckers Seeds, Simpsons Seeds, Kings Seeds, Garden Organic, and Seeds of Italy.   Supplemented by Wilkos and Aldi and the Heritage Seed Library.   I do however have a seed problem.

Potatoes I get from JBA but am trying a local potato day this year too.   Onion sets from Wilkinson, Simpsons, Tuckers, Garden Organic all good.

as much as ebay is renowned for cheap garbage, but premier seeds are my preferred supplier. cheap combined discount, excellent customer service, quick delivery and most importantly good quality seeds.

I keep a list of recommended seed companies to look through here on my diary. I also have a small seed problem. :)

Thanks all.
Think I will go with Real Seeds.
Seem like a small business with a real passion for what they do. The fact they give you instructions on how to save your seed sums it up I reckon.
