Just When You Think All Is Settled Down
« on: January 21, 2014, 17:35 »
We put our 6 month old cockerel down this past weekend.   :(  But just an hour ago, my next door neighbour came to our door with two hens.  She found them in the hedge between our houses.  One seems to be a full grown Bantam and the other is a regular sized hen - about three months old?  I can't believe that someone would drop these hens off like that.  Now we are wondering if there are more out there.  So they are spending the night in the cat carrier with an afghan over it.  I have a broody hen house and run that I'll put them in tomorrow.  Is there anything else I should do?  Our hens are going to be so surprised in the morning to find new ladies in there!
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

I've had a better look at them and they are both Bantams.  I have no idea who's they are, but I bet we'll get a knock on the door soon.  They can really fly!

had 2 guys try to rehome their cockerel by throwing it over the allotment fence much to my astonishment...it could not stay so.......
some people will do that, either they do not want them or something is amiss. you could let the local police know and if local radio does annoucments as ours does.
Definitely keep the chooks apart as these might have an illness.
Sorry about the cockerel....had to home mine as hubby moaned.

as hubby moaned.

Moaned?  ???  I thought that was just the usual noise that the masculine gender made in order to breath?   ???

You mean - its a complaint??   :unsure:  and wives have to do something about it?   :wacko:

Oh.   :ohmy: ::) :D
