i made a new large flower border around two sides of the patio last year. have seen this and would fill it up nicely, as its for a 2m x 8 m border

has anyone had one of these packs and is this good value for money?

i hope no one i know catches me looking through a plant catalogue :?

i would rather grow my plants from seed or cuttings - or dug up from a friends garden etc

it's ok to buy the odd plant - especially if it's hard to propogate or takes a long time to get established

i would not spend that sort of money on plants for a flower border - just spend a few quid on some seeds

i'll send you some seeds if you like - just chuck them on the ground, cover with some compost and ash - then leave them to it

grow the seeds in pots then - then plant where you want - i can send you many seeds - and i'll keep them individually wrapped - and if you are a very good girl - i'll even label them for you too

what if i drown them

what if i forget and let them dry out

what do i plant where

how deep do they go

how wide apart would i plant them

what colour would go next to what colour

arghhh my head hurts, its just too complicated

you have to remember that ive never grown anything in my life.

i think im being bl**dy brave by trying to grow a carrot from seed this year. and thats only because if i dont i will probably be told to stay in the chickens rooms and outta the other rooms on here

i thought it was quite a good lot of plants for £32, and theyve sorted all the planting order. seeds do sound wonderful, but i know id only mess it up.

Babe do you know how big/small the young plants they would send will be? (does it say in the catalogue?) - some of those offers that look really good actually send you tiny little plants that could take ages to flower.

It's nice to grow your own from seed and not too difficult either - you look after your animals: make sure they have enough water etc etc, it's the same kind of thing with plants too

You'll be fine!

Or you could do what I do, just bung them in the soil, water and hope!  My problem is I forget where I've planted anything, 1st year in my house was a poppy orgy (9 varieties and I planted NONE of them!), 2nd year Marigold fest, 3rd year Aquilega) - I've been selling the seeds on Ebay and have now got a plague of nasturtiums.  I've decided that all my neighbours can buy the seeds and I'll just see what comes up in my garden from theirs and if I don't like em I dig em up!

Self-sown stuff is lovely! We've got nasturtiums all over the place, aswell as columbine too, but I only ever seem to have success with perennial poppies, annual ones never come back for me :(
