Can I use the potatoe leaves and tomato leaves in the compost or can I just fill a trench with them.  I haven't even started a compost yet but I have to be thinking of doing it I know.

yes, you can compost them, in a bin or trench

What I've been doing with the discarded leaves / stems of the spuds im lifting is spread them on the ground where they were growing.  An old boy on the lotty told me it's as good as composting them.  They're rotting down pretty quickly.

That is just what I have done as I didn't have a clue what to do with them and didn't want to discard them, thank you.
