Large sweet tins?.  I have a couple that are about to get recycled (if they'll take them) but they seem too good to just chuck away.

Not deep enough, only the 1.5kg size; you know the Roses and Celebration type tins.

They'll be fine. Couple of kg of spuds each.  Yummy.

You could keep your seed packets in them (or have them fall out of their packets all over a drawer and get mixed like I did!), or paperwork, a sewing kit, anything really, I never chuck mine out, I mostly store biscuits etc. in them, stuff like rice cakes that go stale otherwise.

I know a man who has.  Personally, I find PFA to keep their 'new tattie' flavour fairly well regardless.

Ordinary soil, 3 or 4 inches down to keep the frost off them.  6 inches if you want to be extra sure.  Don't lose them tho'

All of those mentioned, I in fact by the biscuits for the tin(well, rest of the people I know do like them actually).

Very good storage boxes, which are also useful in the kitchen, pulses, flower,  tea, breadcrumbs, etc.

Then for the multitude of brick-a-brack kids have, conkers, stones, etc.

As Auntie, says, but use them upside down. Put the cake on the lid, then slip the bottom over the cake.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
