I have squash planted in the pallet bin doing great but i went to put rhubarb leaves in the bin next door and just lookc in to see 15 huge fat slugs almost circling one squash plant. I did blue pellet the layer but not one looked like it had been anywhere near it.

Gloves on and in i went, how very dare they eye up my squash plants. I was amazed at the size of them

My small slugs in the garden are under control by the chooks but the huge ones they WON'T touch so I pellet and snip and (touch wood) damage is minimal except for carrots and parsnips...sown twice and eaten by the little black keel slugs that the chickens can't get to on the fenced off raised beds. And they don't seem to go for pellets....too big for their diddy mouths?
Feeling fairly smug about my slug regime I got a shock when I opened a bag of my leaf mould and there were loads of huge leopard slugs in there! Snip snip
Also a few under pots. Snip snip
It's been very hot and dry down South so they're keeping cool and as well as the night hunts I'm doing day hunts in cool 8) places.....
