I grew nero di toscana last year, and this year.
It was the best kale I have ever grown, great yield ,no problems with pests or disease, overwintered great and  was like cut and come again salad, over a long cropping period and a good taste.
I would highly recommend it.

Oh well worth a try then, i am sure we have grown similiar in the past but it wasnt called the same
I never thought about looking on seed suppliers websites  ::) i order all mine on amazon and this looks like where these have come from and you only get the same info on the listing page which can be sparse to say the least.

Hubby cant moan if i say its for the winter when everything else is finishing

Stir fry with garlic and anchovies... yum
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Love this variety of kale, although we're not growing it this year. Great in soups.

Ooh haven't tried that  :)

As in slow cooker, or just cooked gently on the stove top?

I found last year that the leaves became more tender after the first frosts and the actual highlight was eating the small florets which they produce at the end of the season when they start to go to seed. Also good when chopped, lightling steamed and the added to mash along with some leeks or onions and lots of butter! A sort of colcannon.

Needless to say, I am growing them again this year.

My favourite recipe is to cut out the centre stem, add to boiling water, cook briefly until tender, then strain and leave a little while to dry off.  Heat a spoon of olive oil in a pan, fry a sliced clove of garlic until it just turns brown, add a teaspoon of fennel seeds, then the kale and turn over until coated in oil.  Season and serve.  Scrummy.

You lot are 'orrid!  I've a certain fruit and veg catalogue next to me right now.  This is in there! You are 'talking' about delicious things to do with it! Please have some mercy on us poor souls who are unable to resist the urge.... :tongue2:
