« on: June 20, 2013, 19:14 »
I have about 6 patty pan plants, and a hunter butternut squash and would like some advice on what to feed them.

I am also growing some paris cornichons and am not sure what feed to give them.

  Hope someone can help  :)

Thanks C

Tomato food  :D great for any fruiting plant not just tomatoes

Also depends how big your plants are. If they are not yet big established plants but need a boost, I'd feed em a bit of phostrogen, until they are established and flowering, then start with the tom food.

Did you prepare the bed well with manure and fertilizer? If so just a small boost of potash when they are fruiting as they will still be feeding off the manure etc you put in.

Nettle tea and/or dilute urine 1:10 for nitrogen (growth) and later Comfrey tea for fruits.

Personally I'd never feed a general fertiliser, IMHO causes too much lush leaf growth which in the case of fruit is not what you want.

I only feed a general purpose feed for plants that are sulking a little. Big plants with good roots and sufficient foliage are better equipped to fruit heavily over a longer period, than small plants that fruit early.
