anybody know why my sweet corn is failing?

I would say slugs are loving them. It looks like you may be using a few pellets, but you have some sort of membrane right next to the plants that slugs and snails will be living under. Lift it and squish em.

Might also be wind damage,I see you have a cane next to each one. Are they getting bashed around & hitting the cane?

Or rain damage? I've had some pretty torrential rain here and that can damage leaves.

Thanks for your response. I have only recently put down pellets, but it didn't really look like slugs damage to me, but will look a bit deeper into the probable slug problem.

It doesn't look like slugs to me, the holes look the wrong shape. I would guess pigeons, they stripped mine last year just like that. I netted them and they did recover and went on to give me a good harvest. I learned my lesson and netted straight away this year. Once they get a bit bigger they seem to leave them alone and the net can come off.

  If the net that I put up stopped caterpillars, they were the biggest caterpillars in the world! You may be right of course, but pigeon damage definitely leaves that slit like shredding on leaves.

I've had this, this year. The green is being stripped between the leaf veins. I haven't seen slugs around though.

If you protect from wind until they get more established they do pick up. Next year I plan to stake a debris net windbreak around my sweetcorn as our plots get a cold crosswind.

Some of them seem to have recovered, don't now how.
I looked for caterpillars or any other creepy but none around.
So still not sure what the problem is.

I noticed this on one of mine yesterday, but there was also a tell tale snail trail along it. Pellets when down immediately and no more attacks since then
