Can anyone help?
Due to lack of space I decided to plant my pumpkin in my compost only to find this morning it was dead. The plant was strong and healthy when planted, therefore I wondered if I had made a mistake by planting it directly into fresh grass cuttings.
Luckily all is not lost, I have planted a spare plant in a corner which hopefully will be OK

There is very little in the way of nutrients in a pile of grass clippings and fresh mown ones will not hold moisture. Direct into a manure heap is OK.
