They are lovely chickens, who could resist adopting them.

Im sure their legs will clear up in no time and look even more beautiful.

Whichever method you use, how do you know if it is successful as apparently the scales still stay there??

Yes  :)  You end up with normal looking legs and feet, but manky scales until they moult them, if that makes sense  :)

I have only had one bird with scaly leg mite and she was constantly pecking at her legs.  Once treated she hasn't bothered even though her scales are still raised.  Just waiting for her to molt so she gets her summer legs!

I have used Frontline and scaly leg spray.  I have been rubbing in Flexitol Heel Balm (works wonders on my cracked heels!!!)  and the difference is starting to show. The swelling is going down and the redness is fading.  I don't 'pick off' the scabs  but as I rub in the cream  some do flake off. Hopefully I have done enough to clear it, otherwise cooking oil here I come!!!!!! :) :)

  Chicken pedicures no less  :D

Frontline is very effective, so hopefully Billy and Betty will be feeling the benefits already and the extra heel balm treatment will help soften those manky scales so they come off  :)
