My carrots seem to be doing well for the first time this year too, above ground anyway. It's very satisfying, isn't it? At least until we pull them and find them full of holes :D

Never managed to grow any water butts though

They are very difficult to germinate. Hehe dont rain on my carrot parade with talk of holes  they will be perfect i hope. Unlike my carrots on the plot which have not even germinated

Well I have carrots in the ground, in my raised bed and also in a potato bag of compost.  All germinated and all look good.  Shall wait and see which has the best crop' :D

Mine on the allotment failed, so for my carrots in tubs is the way to go

I have carrots in a galvo tub by my shed door and I ate one today. It was only a thinning but it was sweet as could be.  I keep the tub fleeced to prevent marauders

I didnt fleece mine but i only filled the tub three quarters full so its got a huge rim of protection, will it work, time will tell.

I keep wanting to stroke my carrot tops  :nowink: its like running your hands through marbles and buttons something addictive about it. Not great for the carrot fly though so i have resisted ( so far)

Yes, I stroke mine and then cover them back up.  Stroking plants is supposed to be good for them, not bad for us either - unless it's nettles o'course
