Growing more soup
« on: May 30, 2013, 18:13 »
There was a bit of space left in the greenhouse after I had planted up in the PT and moved bedding plants to the cold frames so I asked my wife what she wanted more plants of ............. we can always use more soup plants she said............ rough translation .......... tomato plants, peppers and basil.
So more soup plants it is.

My choice of veg for soup would be a bit different.

Cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, turnips, leeks, coriander, peas, parsley, potatoes and of course cheese  ;)

Oh yes, Aunt Sally, we do all that veg for soups as well and in fact we are now in the asparagus soup season but with the basil and tomato plants always being put being next to each other and the tomato and basil soup being her speciality it is just her name for that corner of either the PT or GHs that is planted that way.
It is also about the only stuff she fetches herself (because of the lovely smell), any other veg I am sent out for especially if it needs digging or cutting or pulling or if it is cropped in winter .

Can you make rhubarb soup?   ::)
Sometimes my plants grow despite, not because of, what I do to them.

Oooohhhh yesssss, I love broccoli and Stilton, and carrot and coriander, but not tried it with orange in.  But you can't have tomato soup without basil!     ;)
