Our asparagus went in back at the end of 2008 we only took a few spears each year and then left it alone.

This year for every four coming up straight we get one that comes up curly as in like a pigs tale.

Any ideas what's happening.

Wonky spears are usually the result of a nibble from something (usually slugs) although I must admit that curly-wurly sounds a bit extreme!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

I suspect a bit of a chill when growing might also start a curl?

They are crafty little things, when you get near them they either run round the other side of the spear or play dead and fall off. Usually find them in pairs.

Bug hunt for me then, can we spray against these or something else or is it just one of those things we can't avoid
