We have a white leghorn bantum that has just started to lay. We have had a few eggs but we are having a number of soft shelled eggs layed invariably off the perch at night and today there was one in the greenhouse. I am guessing that she is laying before they are ready.
Is there anything I can do to stop it and help her?

No sorry , I had one though and it stopped in time.
Do they have access to grit or shell .

They often have this problem when first laying.  Make sure she has access to a good quality layer pellets and cut out all treats.  She should have access to grit for digestion and crushed oyster shell to help form a strong shell.  They lay at different times of the day (approx. 1 hr later each day) so the laying from the perch should stop soon.
