Poor Charlotte Duck
« on: December 15, 2007, 13:35 »
One of my girls has a poorly eye she looks terrible.  I took her to our vet and he gave her antibiotic injection and eye cream, she was so good but not keen on the temperature bit

I have riggerd up a temporary house and run for her so she can be with the others but not have access to the pond to lower risk of reinfection.

The others all came over to visit her and she is queening it with all the attention.  She had some worms and lettuce as a treat and has a bowl of water to drink and wash her eye in so she is ok for her confinement.  The vet has high hopes for a full recovery.  It cost me 36.00 for her initial consultation so not too bad and she is a good layer so worth it plus I love :)  her

Visiting time

She certainly has a lot of visitors to keep her company, I hope she makes a full recovery.  :)

Poor soul.  Did the vet suggest wiping with cotton wool in clean salty water?  That's what I'd be looking to do.

Get well soon, Charlotte.

No he didn't want any other treatment apart from the antibiotic cream 3 times a day and to keep her out of the pond.  I did bathe them earlier before we went to the vets though.  She has a blister like spot on her eye lense so its more than just a weepy eye.  He thinks she has caught it on a stick and its infected right inside the eye.

She can go back after her treatment ends on Saturday when she has seen the vet and been signed fit again

She laid again today but after antibiotics didn't think it would be ok to eat the egg, anyone know?
