Fertilisers in Poundland...
« on: April 24, 2013, 12:09 »
Afternoon All,

I have just seen Poundland selling boxed Growmore and Bonemeal.

Do you think it'll be ok, it's only a smallish box, and 1KG I think....

As fertiliser isnt cheap, I thought i'd ask here if anyone has used it, or bought it before?

When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !

They are all made by a company called "first choice" from lancs, and they have:-

Growmore
Bonemeal
Rose Food
Tomato liquid feed
Organic Potatoe Fertiliser

All about 1KG boxes.

I use them - though this year they have sneakily reduced the weight from 1kg to 750g in the new stock. I had good results last year, though my plot being fallow for 1 year + might also have something to do with it.

It works out almost the same price as the garden centre multi-deals for me, but £land is closer.

Have just used their organic potato fertiliser on my spud bed.

I noticed that too...

Also they used to do 6 good sizes 4 or 5" ish plant pots for £1, but I noticed this year that they are smaller and dumpier...

Even morrisons do that old trick. I have just ordered small pots of eBay for a few quid for a hundred, they will probably be rubbish but you gotta try.

I've used it for years.. They get the over runs from producers so its all the same stuff you get in garden centres..  I sometimes buy in bulk... 20 packs a time but they dont like it!!
