Ever Heard of Jiven Onions?

Hi,

Anyone ever heard of Jiven (sp?) onions? A fellow plot holder has given me a bunch today.

Apparently you plant the bunch, which look like spring onions, then in a few months time, when the bunch has increased in number, you harvest the whole bunch, separate them out and put a few back into the soil to multiply again.

I'm not certain on the spelling of Jiven, and haven't managed to find anything on a Google search.

... or Welsh onion or Japanese bunching onion.   All the same I think.

my dad calls them jibon not sure on the spelling tho.

I have heard of Gibbons too. Thought they were scallions or not ?
