i put some onions sets in the ground they had previously sprouted long green shoots which have now been eaten a long way down by rabbits will this effect the onions growth etc?

well this did not happen to me with onions but happend to my garlic last year.

My chickens ate it twice right down to the ground and it still came back to make really decent bulbs, so i guess onions maybe the same, there is still hope  :)
