is it ok to plant mange tout outdoors under 2 litre coke bottles this weekend?

no.

Although mangetout like peas are fairly cold tolerant, I find they grow quickly and stronger if planted when the weather is much warmer - say from about mid April here in the midlands.  Sides which, the forecast this weekend and for the next 2 weeks doesn't look promising.

Last year my peas, sugarsnaps and mangetout were all sown this week.

I haven't even put the plastic on to warm the soil this year, cos even with that on - I don't think it would be warm enough yet

Don't need them - they're in the greenhouse!

They're experimental - to see if I can crop them before the tomatoes take over.
